Gluttonous, opinionated, and occasionally dimwitted, Doug is constantly put into complicated situations by his own poor decision making. It turns out that it had little to do with the character himself. Sara's disappearance was never really explained, so it would've made sense to have Carrie mention her sister more, or at least provide an explanation, such as Sara moving away. Another one of Doug’s friends was a man named Richie Iannucci. While some wonder if the fictional couple could have afforded the extra expense of a growing family, the real reason for the decision is more creative in nature. Carrie detests any time Doug tries to take advantage of her or otherwise manipulate her. However, Carrie's sister soon dropped off the radar altogether.
